Are You Ready for What Comes After Getting Into a Car Crash?

Many Collegeville drivers are defensive, practicing good habits—and investing in Ford vehicles with technology like lane-keeping systems and pre-collision assist—in order to avoid accidents on the road. But everyone has a bad day every now and then, and they call them "accidents" for a reason.

Will you be prepared if you find yourself in a traffic collision?

Make sure you're ready for the critical moments after a crash by keeping a few important items in the car:

  • Auto insurance cards
  • Pen and paper
  • Camera
  • First aid kit

According to AAA, the first thing you should do is assist the injured, and call 911 if needed.

Remember, do not attempt to move a victim unless they are in immediate danger. Spinal injuries are common in car-crash victims, and moving them could cause permanent damage. Do attempt to stop severe bleeding by applying pressure with a cloth, and perform CPR if you are trained and the victim has stopped breathing. Otherwise, simply talk to them reassuringly while waiting for paramedics to arrive.

After victims are checked on, get to a safe place, call the police, exchange insurance information, and document the scene with your camera.
